Our commitment to organic sourcing also means that glyphosate, a widely used agricultural herbicide, is prohibited in certified organic production. We believe in responsible farming practices and giving customers a more conscious choice when selecting their daily yerba mate.

The difference is in how the leaves are dried.

Traditional yerba mate may be dried using direct fire and wood smoke. During combustion, compounds known as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) can form and transfer to the leaves. Research has detected varying levels of PAHs in commercial yerba mate samples, depending on the product and its processing method.

Bohemia Yerba Mate takes a different approach.

Our yerba mate is dried using hot air rather than direct smoke exposure. This unsmoked process helps reduce the potential for smoke-related PAH contamination while preserving the authentic character of the leaves.

We believe you should not have to choose between tradition, quality, and a more conscious approach to sourcing. That is why we prioritize unsmoked processing and certified organic production standards.

Less Dust. A Cleaner, More Enjoyable Cup.

Not all yerba mate is processed and packaged the same way. Fine particles and excess dust can accumulate during drying, handling, and transportation, affecting the texture and overall drinking experience.

At Bohemia Yerba Mate, we carefully remove most of the excess dust and fine particles to deliver a cleaner, more enjoyable loose-leaf infusion.

Some people find very fine particles unpleasant to drink, while others may experience stomach discomfort or acidity when consuming yerba mate. Although reducing dust cannot guarantee the prevention of digestive discomfort, we believe attention to leaf quality and processing makes a difference.
